Sassafras is Australian for ‘place of many delicious and quirky things’—well at least in our vocabulary it is. We serve breakfast till 2pm, lunch and cake seven days a week in a much-loved Paddington weatherboard cottage. Inside you’ll find a mix of solid timber furniture, retro kitchen chairs, bookie paraphernalia, old-fashioned mixmasters and a colourful wall of take-home T2 tea and teapot characters. Outside, our leafy backyard is perfect for outdoor dining or BYO parties and bbqs.

We believe in wholesome, unique and yummy food. Vegetarian, vegan and meaty food that is good to eat and good for you. We serve only organic, fair trade coffee and source good quality organic and free range produce where we can. 

With a counter full of scrumptious lunch options, you can pick up what you want, however much you want at Sassafras. Fresh salads, sandwiches, quiches, burgers and tartines differ every day, while for breakfast, sit down to dishes like the best ricotta hotcakes this side of the Pacific.
